New Vision Education Professions

Overview

Students study educational theories to prepare them for planning, creating and reviewing instruction. Clinical experiences and other hands-on activities introduce students to various educational careers, from administration to social work.

Students have the opportunity to obtain college credits during their high school years in this program, allowing them to have room in their schedule for paid substituting at local schools during their college career. Not only does this give students crucial real-world experience, it also helps districts manage the substitute teacher shortage.

Program Outcomes

  • Gain an understanding of the theory and practice of professional ethics

  • Learn effective classroom management strategies and applications

  • Learn about the New York State Learning Standards

  • Understand New York State Certification requirements

  • Learn to work with special needs students

  • Explore and identify career goals

  • Complete required shadowing/internship experiences with educational professionals

  • Learn to cultivate Parent/Teacher/Community relationships
