Health & Dental Insurance

DCMO BOCES has a Benefits Committee comprised of staff members, union representatives and management who watch out for the best health insurance opportunities. Each year, the committee releases the best options and the Board of Education approves the Health Insurance option for all staff. Complete details about your health insurance benefits is provided to you for review. 

In addition, DCMO BOCES has a self funded dental insurance program that covers expenses for individuals and their families at a very affordable cost. Just like with health insurance, you are welcome to inquire about the DCMO BOCES Dental Insurance Program when evaluating your opportunities to join our team.

Retirement

New York State Retirement System

As a public education institution, teachers and administrators certified by the New York State Education Department are able to participate in the New York State Teacher Retirement System (NYSTRS, or simply TRS). Participation is required for full-time employees who regularly work more than 10-months per year. The Benefit Tier determines the level of compensation and it is based on the date you join the program. DCMO BOCES offers retirement benefits through the New York State and Local Retirement System (NYSLRS, or ERS) for civil service employees. Employees contribute towards these benefits. 403(b) Tax Sheltered Annuity Plans

In addition to your retirement system contributions, we offer a selection of retirement vehicles called 403-B Plans. These plans allow you the opportunity to build additional retirement funds using a variety of tax strategies. 457(b) Retirement Plan

The Plan is a voluntary retirement savings plan offered by New York State and your DCMO BOCES, to allow public employees like you to put aside money from each paycheck toward retirement. The Plan can help bridge the gap between what you have in your pension and Social Security, and how much you’ll need in retirement. The Plan offers both traditional pre-tax and Roth 457(b) accounts to provide you with retirement savings choices.  Follow the link at right to learn more about these plans.

Personal Time Off

At DCMO BOCES all employees enjoy time off benefits ranging from paid holidays, vacation, personal time and sick time. All BOCES employees are excused from work on certain holidays. Information on the exact holidays, and whether you are paid for the holiday, is included in your working conditions or union contract. The BOCES calendar contains holiday information for those on the school year calendar as well. If you are subject to working conditions, Human Resources will provide you with a list of your holidays for the particular school year. DCMO BOCES also get one half day paid time for cancer screening medical visits.

Other special conditions are also provided for our employees. BOCES employees who have been employed for at least 12 months, and for at least 1,250 hours during the preceding 12 months are eligible for unpaid family and medical leave, consistent with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Full-time teachers, regardless of the number of hours worked, automatically qualify for FMLA leave after one year of BOCES employment. 

Bereavement leave and a Sick Bank are other benefits that support our staff while going through difficult times. Time off to serve as a juror is another benefit covered according to your working conditions and union contract.

DCMO BOCES offers discounts for wireless telephone and other services honored by companies to state employees. You will also have access to purchase other programs like AFLAC Disability and Life Insurance Policies. We participate in the Employee Assistance Program EAP that offers free and confidential assessment, short-term-counseling, referrals and follow up services to employees. 

According to your union contract and/or working conditions, Professional Development opportunities are available. These opportunities range from tuition reimbursement or funding opportunities for certification and advancement that impact your career with us.
