Congratulations to DCMO BOCES Public Information Specialist Dean Russin, who has won another national award for his Facebook campaign for Sherburne-Earlville CSD. The National School Public Relations Association honored the campaign promoting S-E student Marshall Sepello’s “Marshall Man” movie premiere a Publications and Digital Media Excellence Award. Russin and the campaign had previously received national recognition, receiving the Social Media Impact “Golden Gribble” award from #SocialSchool4edu in May. The campaign also earned Russin two awards from the New York School Public Relations Association in March.

Russin created the “Marshall Man” campaign in his role as a DCMO Public Information Specialist assigned to the Sherburne-Earlville CSD. The campaign set school records for engagement, reach, reactions and shares, and it helped Marshall raise more than $22,000 for other Make-A-Wish kids. Marshall’s wish, a Hollywood-style movie premiere, also set a Make-A-Wish event attendance record, with over 1,700 attending the gala event.

Dean Russin joined the DCMO BOCES Public Information Service in 2017, and works with both Sherburne-Earlville CSD and Gilbertsville-Mount Upton CSD as their Public Information Specialist. His past experience includes sports producer at the Press & Sun-Bulletin in Binghamton and sports editor at The Daily Star in Oneonta.
